Cost: 5.5 Days in Hong Kong

Technically, I spent 7 days 6 nights (18 Apr – 24 Apr) in Hong Kong, but I arrived around 4pm on my first day and I departed for return around 7am. Essentially, I had only 5 full days (19 Apr – 23 Apr) in Hong Kong. For the 5.5 days in Hong Kong I spent approximately HKD 3,499 / USD 455.

Accommodation
Accommodation in Hong Kong is expensive, especially if you stay near an accessible area. I stayed 2 nights at Jordan area and 4 nights at Causeway bay area. Both hotels are approximately 5-7mins walk away from MTR. I’m pretty lucky though, I had free stay at Jordan area, as I tagged along for my friend’s business trip. Thus, the accommodation cost of HKD 1,522 was for 4 nights, per pax in a twin room. We booked Hotel Ease Access Wan Chai; which was a good choice as this hotel is still fairly new.

Food
Due to my circumstances, I had to be prudent with my spending. As such, shopping wasn’t in my plan for this trip and I could only divert all my attention to food. Yes, I’m a glutton. I took 2 heavy meals and a slice of cheesecake from 4pm to 8pm on my 1st day, and ate like 5 times on my 2nd day, but I was curbed for the rest of the trip since I travelled with my friend. We ate in few restaurants or more expensive eateries, perhaps 5 of such places, that we spent an average of HKD 130 each pax/meal. The rest of our meals were in budget eateries that range between HKD 40 to HKD 80 each pax/meal.

This 2% was solely for the data sim, which I purchased in advance from Klook.

Transport
The biggest spent was a taxi ride, HKD 188 shared by 2, when we moved our accommodation from Jordan to Causeway Bay. I also taken Airport Bus to/fro airport that amounted to about HKD 70-80. Most of the rides were public transport but I travelled widely around Hong Kong, including Stanley, outlying islands, Shau Kei Wan, and Tai Po. It was a food trip for me, to satisfy my cravings for Hong Kong food and Cantonese cuisine. My last visit was in 2016. The weather had been kind to us, it was cooling most of the time which makes walking around pretty comfortable. The rain storm only came on my last day, before my flight took off. A good trip overall, although I wish I had more budget for this trip.
