埔里城假日觀光夜市 | Puli Night Market

Nantou, Taiwan

This had to be my favourite night market in Taiwan. It wasn’t not the biggest, or the most crowded night market in Taiwan but it was the only night market I’ve been that gave me the most nostalgic atmosphere. This night market had authentic Taiwanese street food, interactive funfair games (not the usual arcade games), and the least commercialized night market.

Being a solo traveler and a foodie, it was really a struggle walking through the night market. I’m a beef-lover, and got excited when I saw a row of stalls selling beef teppanyaki! The downside was that the beef teppanyaki was part of a set, that comes with noodles and an egg. Hmmm.. I’ll love to do away with the noodles and try the beef only, thus I ordered such and expected to pay the full price but I was later informed that the cost of the noodles will be deducted from the set price. Woohooo! How I love Taiwanese! There wasn’t food wastage, I had some savings, and more tummy space for more food! =D

For shopaholics, you might be disappointed, as there were only some small accessories on sale (cellphone cases, ear studs, kitchenware, etc). Having fun and enjoying the food were the focus.

Here’s a breakdown of my food damages:

  • TWD 25 - Milk Grass Jelly
  • TWD 20 - Sweet Potato Balls
  • TWD 90 - Teppanyaki Steak (after less TWD 30 for noodles)
  • TWD 100 - Deep-fried Squid

I was informed that this night market is only open on Friday, although I found some websites mentioned that it is open from Friday to Sunday. Please verify with the locals before heading down to Puli Night Market.
