Tai O Lookout
I was sold when I saw the pretty photo of Tai O Lookout! It’s a restaurant, located at Tai O Heritage Hotel, with see-through roof and full length windows. Natural lights shining into the restaurant, providing warm from the sun and permitting you to have a full landscape view.
But upon reaching Tai O Lookout, it was nothing as the photos perceived. It wasn’t as glamorous and was a bit dull, perhaps because we visited in the day. The flaws were magnified and the roof blinds were drawn down, it was a far cry from the official photos.
The only comfort was the air-conditioned environment, which was much appreciated after walking 20mins under the hot weather. The way to reach Tai O Lookout is either a speedboat ride near the rope bridge, costing about HK 10/pax, or 20mins walk.
Beef Brisket Egg Noodle – HK 88
Beef Brisket and gravy was passable, the Beef Brisket was tender and soft but ain’t as savoury as we hope. The Egg Noodle failed badly, the taste of flour lingers.
Shrimp Paste Chicken Wings – HK 68
The wings were crispy and juicy, the shrimp paste mayonnaise did enhance the taste. It was nice but wasn’t super fantastic. If only, the shrimp paste taste can be stronger, it was pretty mild overall.
Fish & Chips – HK 78
Salad looks kinda depressing, the vegetables were a bit wilted and weren’t crunchy. The main focus of the dish, the fish filet was surprisingly good! The fish batter was crispy and the filet was fresh and juicy.
Honey Lemon – HK 45
You can skip this. The lemon slices seem to be all dried up, the lemon slices seem to have kept in the container for weeks. There were only few drops of honey in the water, which could barely be tasted. To conclude, the served honey lemon was very similar to plain water.
Oh.. please note that 10% service charge is applicable, the main costed us an average of HK100/pax. As the restaurant is located uphill, there is a small lift available for an alternate option to the stairs.
